Things that make you go huh

There are many things about being a mother that often make me laugh. One thing that usually makes me smile is play time. I love to play with the toys that often leave me laughing. Baby has two puzzles that the first time I played with them I was wondering what illegal substance the creator(s) were on. They look like two pretty innocent puzzles until you lift up a few of the pieces.
First one is a puzzle of a fire station, police station, and hospital:

(innocent enough)
I enjoy the mother who looks like she just found her children in the lost and found.
I love the exercise training the police are doing... um so which floor do they actually learn to do police things?
Then there is the one legged man of the fire department. (that fireman looks like he can hobble with the best of em.)
Here is another shot of him hobbling to the firetruck... (also is it just me or does that dalmation look like he is half great dane?)

And then there is my all time favorite puzzle....
All looks great on the construction site. It is pretty simple, until you get to the dumptruck....
Dumping dirt from the truck- Good! Worker there to guide him- Good! Lift up the piece and....
What the hell???? Why are they burying those poor miners??? When I discovered this I was laughing so hard I had tears.

Well I am off to look through baby's books now. I am sure there are a couple that have missed the lesson they set out to teach. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Mother time

Pringle Face

Since all this crap, I mean stuff with my mother started, I have started to think about all the 'lol' moments. I am sure I have said this before, but she is my best friend. We talk at least 3 times a day. (some days more.) My husband like to call us Lucy and Ethel because whenever we hang out we get into trouble. There have been many times I have laughed so hard I have cried around her. And while we have had our share of arguments and annoying moments, the funny times easily outnumber the bad times.

There was the time that we shoved a queen size quilt (that was at least an inch thick), into the washing machine. It was a tight squeeze, but we MADE it fit! Well, what a surprise when the washing machine started smoking (no fire, thank God.) and making a horrible noise. By this time, my dad, who is the fix-it man was home and was the first one to the washer. Once he yanked the quilt out of the machine, he proceeded to start repairing it (burned out belt). To say he was not happy about the situation would be a little bit of an understatement. For the rest of the night, he proceeded to walk around the house calling my mother "Stupid Woman" and me "Stupid Girl". But he would only call us those names when he would catch a glimpse of us. And he would only say it under his breathe. Even though we knew we were in trouble, we were laughing hysterically when we were driving to the laundromat to finish washing the blanket. And still to this day, if we do anything bad my dad will still call us those names, but they definitely don't hold as much power because it always makes me giggle and think of the over-sized quilt we SHOVED into my parents tiny washing machine.
Another time we were driving on one of our many trips to Montana, when my dad decided to take a nap and let my mom pilot the motor home. She was usually a good driver, but only drove the straight parts that had no real challenges in them. On our family road trips, we would stock up on our favorite foods (candy, nilla wafers, twizzlers) and then drive, play music and have some great laughs along the way. My mom hopped in the drivers seat, I jumped in the passenger seat and we were off. We were singing (I remember singing to the Camelot soundtrack, but I could be wrong) and eating our candy. I accidentally dropped a bag of candy and so my mom, being the helpful lady she is, reached down with me to grab it. When we both looked up, the motor home was headed to the side of the road and was riding on those lovely rumble strips. She got us headed in the right direction again with a quick wheel jerk and we started laughing. The laughter was quickly interrupted by my dad who was jostled off the bed in the back during our antics. You would think he would learn by now that he can not yell at us because all we do is laugh at him and his lecture is lost on us. After that my dad was surprisingly awake and decided to drive the rest of the way himself.
I love to think back on all the times we have laughed at one another. (And there are quite a few. The pictures have nothing to do with the post but they are funny ones of her that made me laugh when I was picking them.) So to my dear Mother, when you are having a 'bad' day please bookmark this page and look at it because I know I will be. (And yes, you can call me, so I can walk you through how to bookmark a page on your ipad!) :) Hahahahahaha!

Burned around the edges....

I think it might be the time of season but I have been seriously burned out about everything. I have been struggling with my code in class, my job is a bit stagnant, and I just wish there was something exciting going on right now. (I know you will say what about Europe, but that is a month away, I need a fix now!) ;)

Anyways, I think I need to just be positive right now and be happy with what is going well... and here are a few funny things that have been going on.

I went to buy my brother in law a card and while I was in the store, I heard singing. (like hymnal singing, loud hymnal singing) It ended up being the guy that was sweeping the floors. (I swear only in Utah would someone being sweeping the floors in a grocery store at 6:00 pm singing.)

At Kohl's I was looking for a pair of tennis shoes to wear while in Europe, I tried on like 20 pairs because my husband would tell me to walk around to see if the shoes were comfortable. As I would walk around I would find other shoes to try on hence creating a long shopping trip of shoe-trying-on experiences.

My husband's friend, Matt came up with a great name for what I do when I (and apparently his wife) reads blogs. The new word is Blog-stalking. Great description of meeting new people and finding out all their business via their informative blog.

Today when I went up to O-town, I started talking with some of my Weber County co-workers and miss them because they seriously crack me up. I don't know how the conversation can contain everything from Cynthia Nixon, American Idol, Yiddish, Rusty Spoons, Mike Myers, Jimmy Fallon, my post-it note obsession, and a stinky tree in a yard. Classic. It is conversations like that that used to make me laugh so hard I would cry on a weekly basis. :)

We have started eating at the Curry shop in SLC. Every time we go there they are not rude, but definetly not "warm-fuzzies" Everytime we leave, we say that they weren't as mean as last time. Apparently, the thought of good curry will negate any customer service qualms I have. :)

On Friday after Trav's Birthday party, we (Trav, JT, some co-workers, and myself) went to my sister-in-law's boyfriend, "Gifted" perform at the Hookah Lounge in SLC. He is rapper. It was way fun and was definetly hillarious to be able to gossip with some people that know some scandal going on around the JW. It was also great to go and dance and drink the night away. Good times and I can't wait for the next performance because he rocked the venue. Way fun time. (Also remember I have photographic proof of the "Craziness" of the night!) ;)

I am sure things will get better. It just seems like it is slim-pickin's for excitement right now.

Love it!!!

I love the fact that some secretaries around here are a couple degrees below useless. When I was trained, I was taught when I have someone here for an Attorney, I call their secretary FIRST. My job is not to keep track of YOUR attorney. It is not my fault that YOUR attorney didn't tell you about the meeting. Yes, I will page them, but I can't leave my desk to track down YOUR responsibility and to do YOUR job!
I love when I need a signature from some "important" person at my work, that I have to call at least 5 people to get a hold of one of them.
I love the fact that when I FINALLY get ahold of someone he makes the process server wait for about 30 minutes.
I love that when the process server has to leave because he can't wait any longer and I call the said "important" person that his response is "oh yeah, I was suppose to come up there." Classic!
I love when I say "hi" to certain people they look at me like I'm a cockroach! Yes I am a lowly receptionist and I don't deserve any respect whatsoever! Thank you for putting me in my place.
I love when I call someone to tell them an appointment is here/a question regarding their work/ or some other business related call and they hang up without saying good-bye.
I love hearing stories about how some ass-hat of an Attorney is treating one of my friends like dirt and nothing will come of it. He is such a peach of a person.
Now my real loves.....
I love the fact that when I tell my Dad to help me create a cake stand for my husband's U.S.S. Enterprise Cake for his birthday he goes and buys a toy so he can look at it closer and figure out the logistics.
I love when my co-workers come by to actually talk to me. (and we actually get to chat when there isn't any phones ringing)
I love that Kimi was so happy to go on a car ride this morning that she actually closed her eyes to let the wind cover her face.
I love that my husband is dressing up for a contest at work for the best Star Trek costume. (with a chance to win $75 as first prize)
I like the nice process servers that come in a bring me a piece of candy just because. (they are seriously just being nice).
It isn't that bad.... I just try to focus more on the good stuff! :)

HAPPINESS IN A 9X13 PAN!

My attitude toward this one meal should signify that I have a serious problem. I so far have twitted about it, updated my facebook status to reflect my feelings and now am writing a blog about it. Never has a meal brought such happiness to me in my entire life. It is the Grandmama of  all comfort foods..... please give it up for HOMEMADE MAC AND CHEESE!  (and I hope that God knows that there should be a special spot in Heaven reserved for Alton Brown, the creator of this fabulous
recipe that has brought me to a new religious level!) Amen!

Happiness

Happiness is knowing that when I walk down the stairs to my house that Kimiko is near the door listening for my impending footsteps.
Happiness is getting showered in Kimi kisses after I have arrived home and am sitting on my bed.
Happiness is having an ichat with my husband while at work.
Happiness is laughing at the inside jokes with my family and friends.(Carrrrne Asada!)
Happiness is going up the county and laughing with my friends, Tiff and Am.
Happiness is talking with Jan and having it feel like we talked yesterday when really it was weeks ago.
Happiness is drinking a really good cup of coffee and surfing the internet at 7:00 am on a Saturday.
Happiness is having a Sunday dinner with everyone around the kitchen table.
Happiness is when people I like at work come and chat with me in the afternoon.
Happiness is having my ActionScript Coding work the first time I try!
Happiness is having people asking us to design things for them.
Happiness is watching Travis and Kimi play throughout the house.

Cuckoo

I think everyone at my work thinks I am crazy. I just sit at my little desk all day and people watch and smile at their little intricacies. I love to watch the people as they wait for the elevator. Some get so nervous and pace while others flip their security cards around. The different clients that arrive, the high profile ones show up in sweats and other ones try to impress with their Tiffany necklaces and Coach bags, are all pretty entertaining. It is all about appearances and how they want the world to view them. It is funny because there are times when their insecurities sneak through the facade. It could be a simple insecure glance out of the corner of their eye or the way that they try to fix their coats or jackets. They are all fighting their own little stuggles and I am just watching them go by. And that is all rushing through my head as they walk by and the reason I sit there with my crazy little smile.

Loves and Happy Thoughts

Ok so now that I have vented, I feel it is only right to say some things that make me happy or are thankful for.
  •  Saturday mornings when I can wake up, have a cup of coffee and surf the web for hours.
  • When I make a treat or dinner, it is the best when someone acknowledges it, especially if they like what they are eating.
  • When I come home, Kimi runs to to the bedroom and waits for me to come in and change out of my work clothes. She sits there and makes her dog noises with her stuffed toy in her mouth.
  • I love talking to my mom on the way home from work.  She is such a goof.  Her stories about my dad, her hair lady, or nail lady, or coworkers always crack me up.  She is my best friend and mom, how lucky could I be!?!
  • After dinner, I love to snuggle with Travis and watch my girl shows (like Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice) I love it even more when he critiques the dancers on Dancing with the Stars!  It is a riot.
  • Sundays when we have family dinners, I love when we all get together and can joke and laugh with each other.
  • When Travis tries to cook, and messes up on something (rice pilaf read the box!) and we laugh about it.
  • When Trav and I laugh about stupid things until we cry, that is the best.
  • When I create something really good in Photoshop that Trav can't even tell what I have done makes me happy.
  • I love right before the alarm goes off when Kimi, Trav and I snuggle until it is time to wake up.
There are many other things too that I love, but these are the first that popped into my head!

Wedding pictures

Travis was able to scan in our wedding pictures onto our computer. (some of the pictures are from our engagement and when we first started dating) We got married at 6:00 PM on May 16, 2004 at the Chapel by the Bay, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, NV. My Maid of Honor was my best friend, Janalyn and Travis had his Dad be his best man.   It was pretty warm out and the guys were really hot in their suits. The weirdest part about getting married in Vegas was when I walked through the casino to get to the chapel, random people would just say congratulations to you because you were in a wedding dress. It was pretty funny. After we got married, we went up to a suite and had wedding cake. It was really delicious. We didn't really have any food in the suite so the party broke up pretty early. For our wedding dinner, we ended up eating at the food court in the Luxor. It was a nice wedding and was perfect for us. :)
