Busy Busy Busy
I know you will all be jealous to hear that I am in the process of packing my house up. :) Nothing better than taking stock of all you own and placing it in boxes to move it 15 minutes down the road. Please for the love of all that is holy, please remind me of how much fun it is to pack next time I decide that we need to move. I will be so much happier next Tuesday when I will have had a few days in our new place, and a few days to clean our old home. Oh, to dream! :) The boxes are calling my name, I better go.

A little love poem
On this Valentine’s Day, I started to think about my sweet Porkchop
Your smirky smile, your belly and your cute bald top,
How exciting this past year has been, with the Northwest move,
The baby, Ratch and Kimi, and my trip to the louvre,
Through it all you have been so loving, kind and supportive,
Even with occasional hormonal threats that I won’t let you live,
I hope I have supported you like you have helped me,
I know you will be that famous artist and everyone will see.
Night stocking at Fred Meyer is not your fate,
And some great comic book hero will be your future date.
We have had a lot of laughs and that is what I love the very most,
Giggles about Nero, goofy family members, and that Shadow ninja post.
I am glad we are on this adventure and finally left the ‘tah,
And like it says on your ring that doesn’t fit anymore, love ya!

The waiting game....
My mothers surgery was suppose to be this afternoon. I was so nervous as the hour approached. I took an extra break from work to wish her good luck before they were off to the hospital. I sat nervously at my desk inputing new products onto the online store I work for. I tried to stay focused all afternoon, hoping I was doing a good job. I have never been so scatter brained ever. Work finally ended and I was able to call my dad to see how she was doing. The surgery would have been almost over, he would surely have an update. "How is it going" I started the conversation off. "We are just waiting here." "WE?" I asked. Yeah, my mother hadn't gone into surgery yet. Um.... ok, 2 hours late, I guess I can wait for a little longer until I hear some new. I am just glad that all my readers (both of you.) will forgive me if this blog doesn't make sense. :)
****UPDATE: My mom made it through the surgery. They were hoping to put a metal plate in her shoulder, but it ended up being broken in 8 places so they decided against screwing any holes into the bones. They stitched up the shoulder socket a bit and she should be sent on her way this afternoon! Feel better soon, Mom! ****

I spoke too soon!
This week has been even more crazy than last week. While my health is great, my mother on the other hand is another story. It was just last week where we were joking about how she hurt her foot a whole year ago. Ironically, on Tuesday I received a call from my sister in Utah saying how my mother was again in the hospital for another tumble. While walking into school that morning, she caught the top stair and was fortunately able to stop herself from hitting the ground by slamming her face and shoulder into the metal door. Great plan, Mom! After a short visit to the hospital, she was lucky to not have a concussion, but did have a broken shoulder (in 5 places). She will have surgery on Tuesday. I am so thankful that first of all, it wasn't worse, and secondly she did it where someone saw her hit, so they were there to help her right away. I feel definitely helpless because I am so far away but am confident that my dad, with all his patience (we both have a strong characteristic of being super patient ;) ) will take great care of her. Mom, I hope you feel better soon! Wish I could be there, but my virtual well wishes will have to do! Love ya and how 'bout we never talk about your injuries every again! ;)

Topsy Turvy week
This week has helped me to look on the bright side. It started out like any other week until I caught the flu from some mysterious means. (I had not gone anywhere public, no one else I know is sick, but somehow the virus found me.) Yes, it was horrible. I hate, I mean HATE to throw up. As I was throwing up every ounce of solid in me, I realized how lucky I was that I did not have morning sickness. I know I would have survived and would have gotten over the whole barfing thing, but seriously, I am glad I did not have to "learn" that lesson the hard way.
Secondly, my husband came home from work and realized that he had lost one of his wedding rings. Let me clarify a bit, we were married in Vegas in a civil ceremony and also in the Greek Orthodox Church as well. In the civil ceremony you wear your ring on the left hand while in the Church wedding you wear it on your right. (I have since combined mine to just the left hand, while he had 2 bands.) It was a bummer that he lost his ring, except for the fact that that means he has lost weight. He has put on the traditional marriage weight after we hooked up, but it is a good thing that he has shrunk a bit since working his horrible graveyard shifts at the old F.M. (The other good thing is that it was the cheaper of the two rings that he lost as well. )
While I am usually not the most optimistic person in the world, I am very happy that I was able to find the silver lining of this week during some very different 'zen' moments and can actually look back and say this was an ok week. Weird, I know!

The Search is over!
After much searching, surfing, and visiting, the search is over. We have found our new apartment. It has been a difficult search to find something cheaper, nicer and just as convenient. Did I mention that we have 2 medium size dogs? Oh and we wanted a ground floor so it woudn't be such an ordeal to take them out when the baby is born? Oh and it had to be cheaper... significantly cheaper because I was not about to move while being almost 7 months pregnant for like a $50 dollar difference. Amazingly, we found it. I was about to give up hope, but right as I was getting to that point, it appeared like some magical angel had placed the add just for us on craigslist. The clouds parted, the birds sang, my husband was off of work so he could schedule an appointment for us to visit. And just like that with one short visit and small deposit later we have our new home. I am so glad that didn't unpack all the boxes from when we moved here. (it was very nice to have house guests at Christmas, with half the room filled with beautiful brown boxes). And now for the really fun part.... the rest of the packing! Now I know you are all jealous!

Weekend pick me up
Since Travis has been working so hard at looking for a job, and has also become so frustrated with said job hunting (and the reduced hours at his current job), we decided to have a Travis Day in honor of him. It was all his choice movies, and all his choice of food on Saturday night. We started off the evening watching District 9, which was surprisingly good. Then after a dinner of meaty meat pizza and ice cream, we watched GI Joe. He had been wanting to see this movie since it came out and since GI Joes were one of his favorite toys as a boy. I can understand why Channing Tatum is such a hottie now, but other than that the movie was just ok. (not my favorite in the list of guy-movies that I have been forced to sit through). Since I am early to bed now, we carried the last movie over to the next day. Drag Me to Hell was the perfect show to watch on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It was pretty funny and surprisingly entertaining. So over the top, but still had some jumpy moments in it. I hope this weekend has reinvigorated Travis to find that perfect job out there. I have the feeling that it is just around the corner, but the waiting is killing me! Travis, I hope this was the pick me up you needed to refocus your search! It is now just a matter of time! :)
