Squirrel TV

My crazy dogs (especially Ratchet) have both discovered they love our sliding glass door. I call it squirrel tv because they will sit there for about 30 minutes every afternoon to just watch what is going on. This could include anything like another dog, a neighbor, a bunch of crows or the occasional squirrel. I love this time because it is actual quiet time where Ratchet will sit and not do anything destructive.

So cute and cuddly...

This picture just makes me so happy to have the cute little pups. I am even more happy that they are snuggling together.

Oh to be a dog....

Every weekend we try to make some special "Kimi" time. We try to find something good to for her to do.  (Yes, we are one of THOSE couples that likes to pamper our pet.) We figure that she is such a good dog during the week, (ie she didn't rip apart anything or eaten anything that she wasn't suppose to (like drawing pencils or sharpies)) that she should be rewarded.  I love to take her to the dog park.  It is a such a fun place to go and experience society.  There are always the "social butterflies", the "recluse", the "low-self esteem", the "bully", the "follower".  All of these groups are the dogs, not their owners. (although most of owners do reflect what their dog is.)  I love to see how Kimi fits into the scheme of things. She is always hesitant at first (Travis says she needs to warm up a bit.) It is a overwhelming when you first enter because all the other dogs rush over to see you and sniff you. (although Kimi gets all the  cold noses in her bum so I understand how she could need a little time to warm up.) After the initial "warm-up" is over, she runs around and (I would like to think) is the social butterfly. You can just picture in your head Kimi running and checking in with everyone making sure they are alright and happy with what is going on.  She is pretty mellow once she settles in, then we can watch all the other dogs. It is so funny to watch all the different personalities work out their differences and still have a good time. There is no bitterness and hatred toward anyone (and the backbiting only happens for a sec then they realize that isn't going to accomplish anything!), they work it out and move on.  If only the world were more like a dog park, minus the sniffing and cold noses.

Springtime means dogpark time

First day this spring that we have been able to go to the dog park.  Nothing is more fun than watching the dogs play and interact. Nothing beats drinking a cup of coffee and watching my little Kimi play nice with the other dogs. (except she seems to get a little moody when they all try to sniff her bum... go figure.)

Amy's real love!

Amy actually snuggling with her pup, Emma.  Awwwww, cute!

Amy's Real Dishwasher....

I just found these pictures of cute little Emma, the Fitzie's dog as the prewash cycle for their dishwasher. As soon as she hears that door open she is right there ready to perform her duty!  Hillarious.

Poor Roxy

So as I walked into my house to say hello to my wonderful dog, I heard a howling coming from outside. We live in an apartment complex and they allow dogs. Now I understand that most people don't care for their animals as much as I care for my Kimi. I get that people are busy and some dogs don't get extra TLC. The incredibly sad noise that I heard was from the sweet pitbull 2 floors up. Maybe it was because she was lonely, maybe it was because she was hungry or thirsty, MAYBE IT WAS THE FACT THAT IT WAS SNOWING AND THE POOR DOG HAD NO WHERE TO GO OUT OF THE WEATHER!!! (and this pitbull doesn't have a thick coat of fur) (Travis actually called and reported them to the apartment complex) I hate it when animals get mistreated. I feel very strongly about this probably because I can't even imagining treating Kimi this way even though mistreatment is the start to her story. Her litter of 9 and her mom were left in a house after the owners just moved out and left them locked in there. The neighbors were feeding the mom through one of the screens in the house when they called Wasatch Humane. What kind of person leaves newborn puppies and their mom locked in a house? There is a special spot in hell for those people. Anyways, I saw the management from the Apartment complex go to their house before I left for work, but I don't know if anything is going to be done. If nothing gets done, I am definetly going to report them to the humane society. Poor Puppy!
